Emergency surgical treatment for cyanotic congenital heart disease in children

Abstract:Objective To summarize the experience of emergency surgical treatment for cyanotic congenital heart disease(CHD) in children.Methods Clinical data of emergency operations in 89 children [64 males and 25 females,(4 ± 3) months] with cyanotic CHD were retrospectively reviewed from January 2016 to August 2017 in Beijing Anzhen Hospital,Capital Medical University.Corrective operations were performed in 83 cases and palliative operations were performed in 6 cases.Radical cure rate,postoperative complications and prognosis of children were analyzed.Results Radical cure rate was 93.3% (83/89).Length of hospital stay was 8-40 days,with an average of (18 ± 9) days.Incidence of postoperative complications was 25.8% (23/89).Early postoperative mortality rate was 3.4% (3/89).Conclusion It is necessary for children with cyanotic CHD to have emergency surgical treatment after diagnosis,and reasonable perioperative management is an important guarantee for the prognosis of children.
