Effect of bismuth pectin combined with levofloxacin triple therapy on serum pepsinogen level and chronic atrophic gastritis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the influence of bismuth pectin combined with levofloxacin on serum level of pepsinogen (PG) and long-term efficacy in patients with chronic atrophic gastritis.Methods Totally 86 patients with chronic atrophic gastritis admitted in Qinghai Renji Hospital from February 2014 to July 2015 were randomly divided into observation group and control group,with 43 cases in each group.The control group took levofloxacin + clarithromycin + rabeprazole;the observation group took levofloxacin + clarithromycin + rabeprazole + colloidal bismuth pectin capsules;both groups were treated for 14 d.Serum levels of PG Ⅰ,PG Ⅱ were tested before and after treatment.Clinical symptoms,pathological results and helicobacter pylori infection were recorded.The total effective rate and 6-month recurrence rate were analyzed.Results After treatment,serum levels of PG Ⅰ significantly increased compared to those before treatment in both groups;the level of PG Ⅰ in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group(P ＜0.05).Scores of clinical symptoms and pathological examination significantly decreased after treatment;the scores in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P ＜ 0.05).The helicobacter pylori clearance rate was gg.9％ (24/27) in observation group and 80.0％ (20/25) in control group;there was no significant difference between groups(P ＞0.05).The total effective rate in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group [88.4％ (38/43) vs 69.8％ (30/43)] (P ＜ 0.05).The 6-month recurrence rate in observation group was significantly lower than that in control group [9.3％ (4/43) vs 25.6％ (11/43)] (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Bismuth pectin combined with levofloxacin triple therapy has a significant therapeutic effect on patients with chronic atrophic gastritis;it can significantly improve the serum level of PG,relieve clinical symptoms and reduce the recurrence rate with good safety.
