Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of trimebutine combined with proton pump inhibitor(esomeprazole) on motor function of esophageal distal smooth muscle in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).Methods A total of 101 GERD patients from November 2015 to May 2016 in the Second Artillery General Hospital,Chinese People's Liberation Army were randomly divided into observation group(51 cases) and control group(50 cases). The observation group took esomeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets(20 mg/time,2 times/d) and trimebutine maleate tablets (0.2 g/time,3 times/d);the control group took esomeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets and placebo.Scores of esophageal distal contractile integral (DCI) and GERD-Q were analyzed before and after 2 months of treatment. Results There were no significant differences of gender, age, body mass index, smoking and alcohol drinking between groups (P > 0.05).Scores of DCI and GERD-Q after treatment showed significant differences compared to those before treatment in both groups[control group:(257 ± 87) rnmHg · s · cm vs (244 ±70)mmHg · s · cm,(13.0 ±3.1)points vs (14.8 ±4.1) points;observation group:(520±210)mmHg · s · cm vs (251 ±67) mmHg · s · cm,(9.8 ±2.1) points vs (15.6 ±3.7)points] and there were significant differences between groups (P < 0.01).Conclusion Trimebutine combined with esomeprazole is effective in alleviating clinical symptoms and improving esophageal motor function in patients with GERD.
