Abstract:Objective To analyze risk factors of neovascularization in carotid artery plaque by superb micro-vascular imaging(SMI) in ischemic stroke patients. Methods Totally 110 patients with carotid atherosclerotic plaque(thickness of plaque≥2.0 mm) were enrolled from December 2014 to July 2016 in Qilu Hospital of Shandong University (Qingdao);45 patients had ischemic stroke (observation group),65 patients without ischemic stroke were allocated to control group.Color Doppler ultrasonography was used to measure intima-media thickness, number of plaque, thickness of plaque, echo intensity, shape of fibrous cap, calcification and carotid stenosis.Carotid plaque neovascularization was observed via SMI technique.Risk factors of neovascularization were analyzed. Results Constituent ratio of male, number of plaque, low echo intensity rate and neovascularization rate in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group [86.7% (39/45) vs 64.6% (42/65),(2.93±0.33) vs (2.51 ±0.08),26.7%(12/45) vs 16.9% (11/65),51.1% (23/45) vs 33.8% (22/65)] (P < 0.05).Smoking history, systolic blood pressure (SBP),low density lipoprotein (LDL) and C-reactive protein(CRP) were risk factors of neovascularization in carotid plaque (P < 0.05).Conclusions SMI technique is helpful in detecting neovascularization and predicting occurrence of ischemic stroke.Smoking,SBP,LDL,CRP are risk factors of neovascularization in carotid artery plaque.
