Abstract:Objective To explore the relevance among type of aortic valve fusion, degree of valvular calcification and dimension of ascending aorta in patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV).Methods Totally 165 patients with BAV from August 2015 to December 2016 in Beijing Anzhen Hospital,Capital Medical University were enrolled.According to cardiac CT angiography data, the patients were divided into 5 groups, valvular fusion of right-left coronary cusps(RL group),valvular fusion of right-non-coronary cusps(RN group),valvular fusion of left-non-coronary cusps (LN group),anterior-posterior valves (AP group) and lateral valves (LA group).Diameters of aortic annulus,Valsalva sinus, sinotubular junction and proximal ascending aorta were measured;calcification of aortic valves was assessed. Results RL group,RN group,LN group,AP group and LA group had 50 cases(30.3%),23 cases(13.9%),10 cases(6.1%),12 cases(7.3%) and 70 cases(42.4%),respectively.The diameter of aortic annulus in RL group was significantly higher than that in LN group and LA group [(18.1 ± 5.2) mm vs (14.0 ± 2.7),(15.3 ± 3.3)mm] (P < 0.05).The diameter of Valsalva sinus in RL group was significant higher than that in LN group [(39 ± 6) nun vs (34 ± 6) mm] (P < 0.05).The LN group showed the severest aortic valvular calcification.Score of calcification in LN group and LA group were significantly higher than the score in RN group(P < 0.05).Conclusions LA is the commonest type and LN is the rarest type of BAV.Dilatation of aortic annulus and sinus in patients with RL type BAV is severe;calcification of aortic valves is slight in RN and severe in LN and LA.
