Abstract:Objective To investigate the relevance between level of plasma homocysteine (Hcy) and 24 h blood pressure variability(BPV) in patients with essential hypertension(EH).Methods Totally 344 EH patients from October 2015 to November 2016 in Beijing Anzhen Hospital,Capital Medical University had 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to measure systolic and diastolic pressure variation coefficients;levels of plasma Hcy,blood lipid and glucose were tested. The patients were divided into 3 groups according to the level of Hcy;group A had 160 cases (Hcy < 15.0 p mol/L),group B had 94 cases (15.0 μmol/L ≤ Hcy <20.0 μmol/L) and group C had 90 cases(Hcy≥20.0 μmol/L).The correlation between BPV(24 h systolic and diastolic pressure variation coefficients) and Hcy was analyzed. Results Levels of blood lipid and glucose had no significant differences between groups (P > 0.05).The 24 h systolic pressure variation coefficient and 24 h diastolic pressure variation coefficient in group B,C were significantly higher than those in group A [(10.7 ±2.5),(10.8±3.4) vs (9.4±2.3);(10.9±2.7),(11.4±2.2) vs (10.2±2.0)](P<0.05);there were no significant differences between group B and group C (P > 0.05).Spearman analysis showed a correlation between BPV and Hey;the coefficient of correlation between 24 h systolic pressure variation coefficient and Hey level was 0.132(P < 0.05);the coefficient of correlation between 24 h diastolic pressure variation coefficient and Hcy level was 0.154 (P < 0.05).Conclusion There is a correlation between Hcy and BPV in patients with EH.
