Abstract:Objective To investigate relevance between changes of plasma periostin level and cardiac function after acute myocardial infarction(AMI).Methods From September 2015 to August 2016,110 patients with primary AMI patients in Beijing Anzhen Hospital,Capital Medical University were enrolled as observation group;1 l0 healthy people were enrolled as control group.Levels of periostin were analyzed between groups at different time points(6-14 h,7 d,3 months after AMI attack). The correlation between periostin level and cardiac function was analyzed in observation group 3 months after AMI attack. Results The periostin level 7 d after AMI in observation group was significantly lower than that 6-14 h after AMI and that in control group [(13 ± 6) μg/L vs (21 ± 7),(30-± 21) μg/L] (P < 0.05).The periostin level 7 d after AMI in 104 patients followed up successfully was significantly lower than that 3 months after AMI [(13 ± 6) μg/L vs (32 ± 19) μg/L] (P < 0.05).The periostin level had no significant differences between groups 6-14 h and 3 months after AMI (P > 0.05).In 104 patients, the periostion level 6-14 h after AMI had no correlations with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (r =-0.115,P =0.244),left ventricular end-diastolic dimension (LVEDD) (r =0.149,P =0.132) and left ventricular end-systolic dimension(LVESD) (r =0.184,P =0.062) 3 months after AMI (P > 0.05);the periostin level 7 d after AMI was negatively correlated with LVEF (r =-0.597,P < 0.001) and positively correlated with LVEDD (r =0.461,P <0.001) and LVESD(r =0.555,P < 0.001) 3 months after AMI(P < 0.05).Conclusions Plasma periostin can significantly decrease 7 d after AMI and increase to normal level after 3 months.Low level of periostin 7 d after AMI is benefical to cardiac function after 3 months.
