Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of Xuezhikang on cholesterol synthesis/absorption markers. Methods A total of 60 patients with hypercholesterolemia from May to December 2015 in Beijing Anzhen Hospital,Capital Medical University were randomly divided into Xuezhikang group and simvastatin group, with 30 cases in each group;the therapy lasted for 4 weeks.Blood lipid,High sensitive C-reactive protein, creatine kinase, liver and renal function indexes, blood glucose and cholesterol synthesis/absorption markers were detected before and after treatment. Results Levels of total cholesterol(TC),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and triacylglycerol (TG) after treatment were significantly decreased compared to those before treatment in Xuezhikang group [(4.3 ± 0.8) mmol/L vs (5.8 ± 0.9) mmol/L,(2.5 ± 0.6) mmol/L vs (3.7 ± 0.9) mmol/L,(1.4 ± 1.0) mmol/L vs (1.7 ± 0.8) mmol/L] (P < 0.01);levels of TC,LDL-C,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) and TG after treatment were significantly decreased compared to those before treatment in simvastatin group [(4.0 ± 0.5) mmol/L vs (5.6 ± 1.0) mmol/L,(2.4 ± 0.5) mmol/L vs (3.8 ± 0.8) mmol/L,(1.13 ±0.23)mmol/L vs (1.19 ±0.20) mmol/L,(1.2 ±0.4) mmol/L vs (1.5 ±0.6) mmol/L] (P <0.05 or P <0.01).Synthetic rates of cholesterol synthesis markers squalene, desmosterol and lathosterol after treatment were significantly decreased compared to those before treatment in both groups [Xuezhikang group:(0.19 ± 0.12) vs (0.36±0.32),(1.9±1.4) vs (2.5±1.5),(1.3±1.0) vs (2.2±1.5);simvastatin group:(0.19±0.14) vs (0.27±0.16),(1.6±1.1) vs (2.2±1.5),(1.5 ±1.2) vs (2.2±1.3)](P<0.05 or P < 0.01);synthetic rates of cholesterol synthesis marker cholestanol and cholesterol absorption markers campesterol, sitosterol, stigmasterol had no significant differences before and after treatment (P > 0.05).All indexes had no significant differences between groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion Xuezhikang and simvastatin can inhibite cholesterol synthesis.
