Efficacy and safety of domestic and imported metformin treating type 2 diabetes mellitus: a Meta-analysis

Abstract：Objective To evaluate efficacy and safety of domestic and imported mettormin in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods Clinical randomized control trials regaMing domestic and imported metformin treating T2DM were searched in databases of PubMed,Cochrane Liabrary,Clinical Trials,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),China Biology Medicine(CBM),China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP)and WanFang Data from their inception to January 2016.Research data were evaluated.Review Manager 5.2 software was used for statistical analysis.Results Finally 6 literatures were included,including 646 patients.Meta-analysis showed that domestic and imported metformin had no significant differences in the efficacy of lowering fasting blood glucose[mean difference(MD) =-0.04,95％ confidence interval(CI):-0.15-0.06,P =0.38],the efficacy of lowering postprandial blood glucose(MD =-0.06,95％ CI:-0.76-0.65,P =0.87) and the incidence of gastrointestinal adverse reactions(odds ratio =0.77,95％ CI:0.40-1.48,P =0.43).Conclusion There is no significant difference of curative effect between domestic and imported metformin on type 2 diabetes mellitus.
