Effect of liraglutide in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus: a Meta-analysis

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of liraglutide in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods The randomized controlled trials were retrieved from Cochrane Library,PubMed,Embase,China National Knowledge Internet,Wanfang database,China Science and Technology Journal Database,and Chinese Biomedical Database.After evaluating the quality of the studies,Meta-analysis was performed for the results of homogeneous studies;the heterogeneous data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative analysis.Results Four multi-center,randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trials were enrolled.Observation group were given liraglutide,control group were given placebo.Meta analysis showed that the reduction of body mass in observation group was significantly more than that in control group [mean difference (MD) =-1.25,95％ confidence interval (CI):-1.93--0.58];the reduction of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in observation group was significantly more than that in control group (MD =-0.98,95％ CI:-1.36--0.59);the incidence of adverse reactions in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group (relative risk =1.45,95％ CI:1.10-1.92) (all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Liraglutide can reduce body mass and HbA1c level in patients with type 2 diabetes with good toleration.
