Serum level of soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 and the influencing factors in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes melliteus patients
Abstract:Objective To analyze the serum level of soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(sVCAM-1) and the influencing factors in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes melliteus (T2DM).Methods Totally 53 cases of newly diagnosed T2DM from July to October 2013 in Yangquan First People's Hospital were enrolled as observation group;23 healthy people with normal blood glucose were selected as control group.Body mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, low density lipoprotein cholesterol,triacylglycerol,high-sensitive C-reactive protein, oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) 0,0.5,2 h blood glucose value and 0.5,2 h blood glucose increased value were recorded. Results Systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and serum sVCAM-1 in observation group were all significantly higher than those in control group[(140 ±22) mmHg vs (123 ± 12) mmHg,(86 ± 12) mmHg vs (78 ± 5) mmHg,(312 ± 56) μg/L vs (278 ± 70) μg/L](P <0.05 or P < 0.01).Serum sVCAM-1 level was positively correlated with OGTT 0.5 h blood glucose value(r =0.233,P =0.043).Conclusions Newly diagnosed T2DM patients show increasing levels of serum sVCAM-1,which is positively correlated with OGTT 0.5 h blood glucose.Effective control of OGTT blood glucose may be a target for the prevention and treatment of diabetes atherosclerosis.
