Abstract:Objective To investigate characteristics and diagnostic techniques of echocardiography in left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy(LVNC) in infants. Methods One hundred infants with LVNC from January 2014 to December 2015 in Beijing Anzhen Hospital,Capital Medical University were enrolled as observation group;100 healthy infants were randomly selected as control group.Echocardiographic characterictics were analyzed between groups. Results There were no other cardiac abnormalities in both groups. In observation group, the myocardium contained a compact outer layer and a non-compact inner layer, the thickness ratio of non-compact and compact layers was more than 2.0;the non-compact layer was full of trabecular muscles and intertrabecular recesses. The main involved site of LVNC was left ventricular apex 100 cases (100.0%),followed by the middle segment of left ventricular lateral wall 95 cases(95.0%),the middle segment of the left ventricular inferior wall 75 cases (75.0%) and the middle segment of left ventricular posterior wall 67 cases(67.0%).Left ventricular dilation complicated with secondary mitral regurgitation was observed in observation group. In observation group, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter was significantly higher than that in control group;left ventricular ejection fraction, left ventricular shortening rate, interventricular septum motion range and left ventricular posterior wall motion range were all significantly lower than those in control group[(35 ± 4) mm vs(26 ±4)mm,(41 ± 10)% vs (65 ±9)%,(20 ±6)% vs (33 ±8)%,(2.6 ±0.7)mm vs (3.9 ± 1.1)mm,(2.9±1.3)mm vs (6.1±1.4)mm](all P<0.01).Conclusions Echocardiography can be used in the diagnosis of LVNC in infants.Left ventricular dilation, decreases of left ventricular ejection fraction, left ventricular shortening rate, interventricular septum motion range and left ventricular posterior wall motion range are characteristics of LVNC echocardiography.
