Effect of probucol combined with rosuvastatin on lipid metabolism in patients with acute cerebral infarction

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the effect of probucol combined with rosuvastatin on lipid metabolism in patients with acute cerebral infarction.Methods Totally 100 patients with acute cerebral infarction from January 2014 to January 2015 were randomly divided into observation group (50 cases) given oral administration of probucol (500 mg/time,2 times/d) and rosuvastatin (10 mg/time,1 time/d),and control group (50 cases) given oral administration of probucol (500 mg/time,2 times/d),the treatment was lasted for 4 months.Before and after treatment,the triglyceride (TG),total cholesterol (TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C),oxidized low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL),national Institutes of health stroke scale (NIHSS) score were compared between group;the clinical efficacy was observed.Results After treatment,the TC,TG,LDL-C,ox-LDL and NIHSS score were significantly lower,the HDL-C was significantly higher in observation group than those in control group [(4.0 ± 0.8) mmol/L vs (4.7 ± 0.6) mmol/L,(1.6 ± 0.5) mmol/L vs (2.1 ± 0.4) mmol/L,(2.3 ± 0.4) mmol/L vs (2.7 ± 0.3) mmol/L,(25.2 ±4.3) μmol/L vs (33.4 ±3.9) μmol/L,(11 ±4) scores vs (15 ±4) scores,(1.4 ±0.2) mmol/L vs (1.1 ±0.2) mmol/L] (P ＜0.05).The effective rate in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group [82.0％ (41/50) vs 64.0％ (32/50)] (P ＜0.05).No serious adverse reactions,such as liver and kidney dysfunction,ventricular tachycardia,thrombocytopenia occurred in both groups of patients.Conclusion Probucol combined with rosuvastatin can effectively improve the lipid metabolism and enhance the clinical efficacy in treating acute cerebral infarction,with better effect than single only rosuvastatin.
