Life quality of elderly patients with chronic heart failure and related factors analysis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the life quality of elderly patients with chronic heart failure and related factors.Methods Totally 262 elderly patients with chronic heart failure from September 2014 to April 2015 in Yangpu District Central Hospital were investigated using general information questionnaire,activity of daily living scale and health survey scale.The scores about the quality of life were compared with the national norm,and the factors of life quality were analyzed.Results The total score of life quality of the elderly patients with chronic heart failure was (43 ± 19) scores;all the dimension scores were significantly lower than national norm [body pain:(64±26) scores vs (86 ± 18) scores,mental health:(61 ±17) scores vs (73 ± 17) scores,the social function:(60±24) scores vs (87 ± 17) scores,energy:(46 ± 19) scores vs (70 ± 17) scores,emotional function:(39±31) scores vs (76±38) scores,physiological function:(36 ±29) scores vs (91 ±15) scores,physiological functions:(31 ± 19) scores vs (80 ± 35) scores,overall health:(29 ± 17) scores vs (70 ± 21) scores] (P ＜0.01).The life quality of elderly patients with chronic heart failure was correlated with age (t =-2.049,P =0.041),educational level (t =2.161,P =0.032),activities of daily living (t =6.977,P ＜ 0.001),the primary caregiver (t =-2.074,P =0.039),caregiver health status (t =-4.968,P ＜ 0.001).Conclusions The age,educational level,daily life skills,primary caregivers and the health of caregivers are the main factors of life quality of elderly patients with chronic heart failure.
