Function of cardiac autonomic nerve at interictal phase in patients with epilepsy
Abstract:Objective To assess the function of cardiac autonomic nerve at interictal phase in patients with epilepsy. Methods Seventy-seven epileptic patients (observation group) and 77 healthy volunteers (control group) from January 2013 to January 2015 were enrolled. The potential amplitude of sensory transduction of gastrocnemius nerve,R-R interval variation and heart rate during resting state and deep breath,Valsalva ratio, ratio of R-R interval 30 s and 15 s (R-R30s/R-R15s) after postural change were compared between groups. Results The potential amplitude of sensory transduction of gastrocnemius nerve,R-R interval variation under during resting state and deep breath,Valsalva ratio and R-R30 s/R-R15 s in observation group were all significantly lower than those in control group [(13 ±7) μV vs (17 ±8) μV,(17 ±7)% vs (19 ±7)%,(32 ± 14)% vs (37±14)%,(1.4±0.3) vs (1.8 ±0.4),(1.20 ±0.19) vs (1.30±0.18)] (P.<0.05).The heart rate during resting state and deep breath had no significant difference (P > 0.05).Conclusion The function of cardiac autonomic nerve at interictal phase in patients with epilepsy is reduced and can be screened by simple and routine tests of autonomic nerve.
