Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of serum tumor markers on assessing therapy efficacy in treatment of advanced non-small cell lung. Methods Totally 93 patients with advanced non small cell lung cancer from March 2013 to March 2015 were enrolled. Before and 2 months after treatment, the tumor markers including carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA),carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125),cytokerantin-19-fragment (Cyfra21-1) and squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCAg),neuron-specific enolase (NSE) were measured. Results The effective rate was 49.5% (46/93).According to the outcomes, the patients were divided into effective group (46 cases) and ineffective group (47 cases). Before treatment, the levels of serum tumor markers were not statistically different (P >0.05).After treatment, the levels of CEA,CA125,Cyfra21-1,SCCAg and NSE in effective group were significantly lower than those before treatment and those in control group at the same time points [(11 ± 9) μg/L vs (36±20),(37±19) μg/L,(30±13) kU/L vs (57±13),(61 ±14) kU/L,(2.2±1.1) μg/Lvs (8.7±4.9),(9.6±4.4) μg/L,(0.83±0.21) μg/L vs (1.36±0.66),(1.22±0.85) μg/L,(11.9±2.2) μg/L vs (18.4±1.9),(19.3 ±3.9) μg/L] (P<0.05).Conclusion Serum tumor markers such as CEA,CA125,Cyfra21-1,SCCAg and NSE can evaluate the effect of therapy on advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
