Abstract:Objective To study the expression and significance of forkhead box p3 (Foxp3) in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) induced capillary bronchitis. Methods Thirty rats were randomly divided into control group and RSV group (n =15 in each group). The capillary bronchitis was induced by RSV in RSV group. The pathological changes of lung tissue was observed;the mRNA levels of Foxp3 in peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) and lung tissue, the expression of Foxp3 in lung tissue, the levels of interleukin-10 (IL-10) and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in plasma were compared between groups. Results The rats in RSV group showed severe inflammation in pulmonary interstitial, with wider alveolar septa and infiltration of a large number of lymphocyte;the rats in control group had no abnormal performance. The mRNA levels of Foxp3 in PBMC and lung tissue, the expression of Foxp3 in lung tissue were significantly lower in RSV group compared with those in control group [(0.15±0.03) vs (1.00±0.00),(0.26±0.05) vs (1.00±0.00)](P<0.05);the levels of IL-10 and TGF-β in plasma were significantly lower in RSV group compared with those in control group [(86 ± 7) μg/L vs (118 ±8) μg/L, (22 ±4) μg/L vs (43 ±5) μg/L] (P <0.05).Conclusion The down regulation of Foxp3 could be an important mechanism of RSV induced capillary bronchitis.
