Remote health monitoring and management in patients with hypertension

Abstract:Objective To explore the scientific methods of remote health monitoring and management in patients with hypertension.Methods Totally 99 hypertension patients from May 2012 to June 2014 were enrolled and randomly divided into observation group (50 cases) and control group (49 cases).Conventional drug treatment was given in both groups;remote health monitoring treatment was applied in observation group.Results In observation group, the proportion of health behavior including low fat/low salt diet, regular exercise, medical compliance behavior in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group [92.0% (46/50) vs 69.4% (34/49), 78.0% (39/50) vs 59.2% (29/49), 88.0% (44/50) vs 71.4% (35/49)];the health knowledge questionnaire scores were significantly higher than those in control group [(86 ± 24) scores vs (65 ± 29) scores], and the blood pressure control was superior to control group [systolic blood pressure: (122 ± 15) mmHgvs (132 ± 16) mmHg, diastolic blood pressure: (85 ±8) mmHg vs (100 ±9) mmHg] (all P < 0.05).Conclusion Remote health monitoring and management in hypertensive patients is effective.
