Abstract:Objective To evaluate the correlation between serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) level and coronary atherosclerotic heart diseas in elderly patients. Methods A total of 214 elderly patients who underwent angiography from January 2011 to August 2014 were collected.According to the results of coronary angiography, the patients were divided into coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CHD) group (171 cases) and non-CHD group (43 cases). The serum HDL-C level was determined and compared between the two groups;the correlation between HDL-C level and coronary atherosclerotic heart disease was analyzed. Results The level of serum HDL-C in CHD group was significantly lower than that in non-CHD group [(1.11 ±0.29) mmol/L vs (1.27 ±0.34) mmol/L] (P <0.01).HDL-C was a protective factor for CHD (P =0.031, odds ratio =0.222, 95% confidence interval: 0.057-0.869).Conclusion Serum HDL-C provides a protective function for CHD.
