Abstract:Objective To study the gender differences of coronary artery stenosis and left ventricular function in patients with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).Methods Totally 271 patients (97 female and 174 male) with NSTEMI who underwent coronary angiography at Beijing Anzhen Hospital from October 2011 to October 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. The lesion sites and the stenosis degrees were measured by coronary angiography,at the same time the ventricular motion and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were assessed by echocardiography.Logistic regression model was performed to analyze the correlations of gender with stenosis degree of coronary and ventricular function in NSTEMI.Results The percent of NSTEMI patients more than 65 years old had significant gender difference[female:58.8% (57/97),male:21.3% (37/174)].There were no differences between female and male for troponini level (11.1 ± 3.7) μg/L vs (14.6 ± 2.1) μg/L,P > 0.05),LVEF [(64 ± 8) % vs (61 ± 9) %,P > 0.05] and cardiovascular risk factors. The females had less Gensini value of coronary angiography compared with the males (5 ± 4 vs 11 ± 3,P =0.007).Logistic regression analysis showed that the age was a risk factor for coronary artery stenosis in female patients of NSTEMI (r =0.631,OR=1.781,95% CI:1.541-2.106,P =0.000).Conclusions The degree of coronary stenosis in female NSTEMI patients is lower than that in male NSTEMI patients.
