Effect of CO2 pneumoperitoneum laparoscopic and abdominal lift laparoscopic on serum adhesion molecules in patients with colorectal tumors

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of CO2 pneumoperitoneum laparoscopic and abdominal lift laparoscopic on serum adhesion molecules in patients with colorectal tumors.Methods Totally 83 patients with colorectal tumors were enrolled between June 2006 and January 2011.Forty-two cases were performed with abdominal lift laparoscopic while other 41 cases had CO2 pneumoperitoneum laparoscopic surgery.Blood samples were obtained before,during and 24 hours after operation.Serum intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1),CD44 v6 and e-selectin were measured by ELISA kit.In order to analyze the differences between the two groups.Results In C02 pneumoperitoneurm group,total 3 adhesion molecules increased significantly.Serum ICAM-1 levels were (91 ± 24) μg/L,(107 ± 28) μg/L and (215 ± 94) μg/L before,during and 24 hours after procedure ; serum CD44v6 levels were (24 ± 10) μg/L,(28 ± 6) μg/L and (43 ± 9) μg/L; serum e-selectin was (103 ± 55) μg/L,(139 ± 59) μg/L and (225 ± 60)μg/L respectively(P ＜ 0.05).However,there were some differences in abdominal lift laparoscopic group.The serum ICAM-1 level was (167 ±62) μg/L at 24 hours after procedure,higher than that before (100 ± 31)μg/L and during (95 ±29)μg/L procedure; the serum CD44 v6 level after surgery (26 ± 8)μg/L was higher than that before surgery (24 ± 8)μg/L.Serum e-selectin showed significant changes which was (97 ± 51)μg/L,(119 ± 49) μg/L and (212 ± 87)μg/L(P ＜0.05) ; in addition,there was a different effect on serum adhesion molecules between laparoscopic groups.In CO2 pneumoperitoneum group,both serum ICAM-1 and CD44 v6 (F =4.692,P =0.033 ; F =23.555,P =0.000) increased significantly.Conclusion CO2 pneumoperitoneum laparoscopic and abdominal lift laparoscopic can result in serum adhesion molecules in patients with colorectal tumors.
