Efficacy of Yunnan baiyao aerosol associate with family nursing in treatment of acute ankle sprain

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of yunnan baiyao aerosol associate with family nursing in treatment of acute ankle sprain.Methods Totally 122 patients with acute ankle sprain in department of orthopaedics of Taizhou Huangyan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Zhejiang Province from April 2012 to April 2013; according to their consulting order,the odd number was as the observation group and the even number was as control group,with 61 cases in each group.Patients in control group were taken ibuprofen sustained-release capsules 1 pills each time,2 times a day for 2 weeks.Patients in observation group had yunnan baiyao aerosol associate with family nursing for 2 weeks.Therapeutic effects and the clinical symptoms scores were compared after 2 weeks.Results In the observation group,23 cases were clinically controlled; 18 cases were remarkably effective; 16 were effective,4 were ineffective and the effective rate was 93.4％ (57/61).In the control group,14 cases were clinically controlled; 21 cases were remarkably effective; 13 were effective and 13 were ineffective; the effective rate was 78.7％ (48/61).There was significant difference in therapeutic effect between the observation group and the control group (x2 =7.44,P ＜ 0.01).Before treatment,the clinical symptoms score was (12.2 ± 1.6)in the observation group and (12.5 ± 1.3)in the control group;there was significant difference between the observation group and the control group(t =0.54,P ＞0.05).After 1 week treatment,the clinical symptoms score was(6.5 ± 1.6) in the observation group and (7.2 ± 1.6) in the control group ; there was significant difference between the observation group and the control group(t =2.23,P ＜0.05).After 2 weeks treatment,the clinical symptoms score was(3.4 ± 1.4)in the observation group and (4.3 ±1.4)in the control group; there was signific ant difference between the observation group and the control group (t =3.67,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion Yunnan baiyao aerosol associate with family nursing is good for treatment of acute ankle sprain,and it deserves popularization and application.
