Abstract:Objective To explore effects of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on stage Ⅲ non-small cell lung cancer. Methods From 2006 to 2013,103 patients were randomly divided into pre-operation neoadjuvant chemotherapy group (group A,53 cases) and operation group (group B,50 cases).Group A was given 2 cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and operation was performed 4 weeks after the last chemotherapy. All 53 cases were given intravenous chemotherapy. The regimens included MVP in 27 cases,NP in 26 cases.Group B was operated without chemotherapy. The post-operative complications,mortality,1,3,5 years survival rate, curative effects were analyzed. Results The resection rate was 86.8% (46/53)in group A and it was 88.0% (44/50)in group B.No significant differences of operative complications and mortality were observed between the group A [13.2% (7/ 53),3.8% (2/53)],and group B[14.0% (7/50),4.0% (2/50)] (P > 0.05).The 1-year、3-year 、5-year survival rate were 86.8% (46/53),78.0% (32/41) and 53.8% (14/26) in group A; they were 68.0% (34/50),54.8% (17/31) and 26.1% (6/23) in group B,respectively. The long-term survival rate in group A was remarkably higher than that in group B (P < 0.05).Conclusions The preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy is safe and effective. It can increase the resection rate of the tumor and improve the long-term survival rate with stage Ⅲ NSCLC.
