Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of atorvastatain and simvastatain on high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) after stents implantation in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).Methods Totally 130 ACS patients after successful stents implantation were divided randomly into two groups:atorvastatain group (n =68) and simvastatain group (n =62).Patients in atorvastatain group were given atorvastatain (10 mg once per day) for 12 weeks and patients in simvastatain group were given simvastatain (20 mg once per day) for 12 weeks.Levels of hs-CRP and PAPP-A were detected postoperatively and 12 weeks after stents implantation. Results The levels of hs-CRP and PAPP-A in both groups showed a significant decrease at the 12th week [hs-CRP:atorvastatain group(5.7 ± 3.1)mg/L vs (14.9 ± 3.3) mg/L,simvastatain group (7.9 ± 3.5) mg/L vs (15.0 ± 3.3) mg/L; PAPP-A:atorvastatain group (6.4 ± 2.1) mIU/L vs (19.5 ± 9.2) mIU/L,simvastatain group (10.4 ± 3.0) mIU/L vs (20.3 ± 8.8) mIU/L] (P < 0.05).The levels of hs-CRP were significantly decreased in atorvastatain group than those in simvastatain group [(8.1 ± 2.9) mg/L vs (6.4 ± 3.7) mg/L,P < 0.05].The changes of the levels of PAPP-A in both groups had statistical significant difference [(11.2 ± 4.7) mIU/L vs (9.5 ± 5.8) mIU/L] (P < 0.05).Conclusion Compared with simvastatain, atorvastatain can decrease the level of inflammatory factorsmore significantly in ACS patients who have successful stent implantation.
