Effect of Yinxing guttate pills on plasma adhesion molecules among patients with stable angina and high homocysteine

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of Yinxing guttate pills on plasma intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1),vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1),nitric oxide,malondialdehyde in patients with stable angina and high homocysteine,and to explore its possible effects on protecting vascular endothelial cells from damage.Methods Totally 280 outpatients with stable angina and high homocysteine in Anzhen Hospital from March 2010 to August 2012 were selected.All the patients were randomly divided into control group (n =140)and observation group (n =140).The control group administered aspirin,nitrates,folate and B vitamins,and observation group administered Yinxing guttate 4 pills three times daily plus aspirin,nifralis,folate and B vifamine.Before admission and 30 days later,6 ml venous blood was obtained from all the patients and the level of plasma ICAM-1,VCAM-1,nitric oxide,malondialdehyde were investigated.Results The level of plasma homocysteine of the two groups decreased significantly 30 days after admission [control group:(6.2 ± 2.1) μmol/L vs (6.5 ± 3.4) μmol/L; observation group:(14.5 ± 2.0) μmol/L vs (24.9 ± 3.5) μmol/L] (P ＜ 0.01).There were significant differences among the level of ICAM-1,VCAM-1,nitric oxide and malondialdehyde of two groups 30 days later compared with pre-admission [control group:(259 ± 43) μg/L vs (376 ± 52) μg/L,(432 ± 61) μg/L vs (535 ±64) μg/L,(76 ±9) μmol/L vs (68 ± 10) μmol/L,(6.7 ±0.8) μmol/L vs (8.7 ±0.8 μmol/L) ;observation group:(198 ± 36) μg/L vs (349 ±73) μg/L,(315 ±44)μg/L vs (524 ±82)μg/L,(86 ± 10) μmol/L vs (65 ± 9) μmol/L,(5.0 ± 0.6) μmol/L vs (7.2 ± 1.1) μ mol/L] (P ＜ 0.01).There were significant differences among the level of ICAM-1,VCAM-1,nitric oxide and malondialdehyde in observation group,compared with control group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Yinxing guttate pills can decrease the plasma adhesion molecules of patients with stable angina and high homocysteine and protect vascular endothelial cells from damage,which may play a role in retarding atherosclerosis.
