Abstract:Objective To observe the helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection rate among health examination population and to study the relation between Hp infection and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Methods Totally 2 025 persons from health examination were separated into three groups:current Hp infection group(754 cases),past Hp infection group(555 cases) and non Hp infection group(716 cases).Difference of physiological and biochemical indexes morbidity of cardiac-cerebral vascular disease were compared. Results There were significant differences of age, number of coronary heart disease (CHD) and cerebral apoplexy patients, white blood cell count, fasting insulin level, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and C react protein (CRP) between the 2 groups [(61±14)yearsvs (56 ±12)years,12.1% (91/754) vs 7.8% (56/716),9.8% (74/754)vs 5.3% (29/716),(12.5±2.5) ×109/L vs (7.6±1.8) × 109/L,(10.6±2.0)μU/L vs (6.8±1.2)μU/L,(2.9±0.6)vs (1.5 ±0.3),(1.2 ±0.4)mmol/L vs (1.5 ±0.3)mmol/L,(8.2 ± 1.8)mg/L vs (3.4 ±0.8)mg/L] (P<0.05).Proportion of CHD and cerebral apoplexy patients of past Hp infection group were higher than that of non Hp infection group [10.5 % (58/555),8.5 % (47/555)] (P < 0.05).Hp infection was associated with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease odds ratio[current Hp infection,(OR) =2.85,95% confidence interval(CI):2.13-3.36,P < 0.05] ; past Hp infection,OR =1.89,95 % CI:1.34-2.41,P < 0.05).CHD,fasting blood-glucose,HDL-C and CRP were associated with current and past Hp infection; HOMA-IR and LDL-C were associated with current Hp infection. Conclusions Current and past Hp infection are associated with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.Prevention and treatment of Hp infection are very important for prevention and controlling of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease.
