Abstract:Objective To observe the value of color Doppler ultrasound for carotid plague in patients with diabetes. Methods From March 2009 to May 2012,188 cases of diabetic patients were collected (diabetic group).Eighty outpatient were collected (healthy group).Bilateral carotid artery diameters, internal carotid artery diameter, the diameter of the external carotid artery intima-media thickness and plaque in both groups were compared. Results Carotid artery diameter and intima-media thickness in the diabetic group were larger than those in the healthy group [(7.70 ± 0.42) mmvs (6.60 ± 0.34) mm,(1.03±0.11) mmvs (0.70±0.20) mm]; Plaque detection rate in the diabetic group was higher than that in the healthy group [76.1% (143/188) vs 10.0% (8/80)] ; the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion Color Doppler ultrasound can provide an objective basis for early prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis sclerosis, especially in the carotid artery examination for elderly patients with diabetes.
