Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of atorvastatin treating atherosclerotic plaque using coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA).Methods Eighty patients with coronary CTA demonstrating < 50% lumen stenosis were enrolled. They were randomly allocated into observation group (n =40) and control group (n =40).Patients in observation group received atorvastatin 10 mg,once daily and aspirin treatment; patients in control group only received aspirin treatment. After 12 months, lipid was detected and all the patients received the coronary CTA,the changes of atherosclerotic plaque and lumen stenosis were observed. Results In the observation and control group, total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride were decreased obviously (P < 0.05),while no statistical significance was observed between two groups after treatment (P > 0.05).In the treatment group, the average volume of non-calcified plaque, calcified plaque and mixed plaque were reduced from (17 ±6)mm3,(24 ±5)mm3,(42 ±12)mm3 to (13 ±4)mm3,(20 ±7)mm3,(32 ± 10)mm3 ; the differences between pre-treatment and post-treatment were statistical significant (all P < 0.05).Conclusion Atorvastatin can reduce atherosclerotic plaque and decrease lumen stenosis; coronary CTA can observe the effect of atorvastatin on atherosclerotic plaque.
