Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between microalbuminuria(MAU) with carotid artery intima-media thickness(IMT) and pulse wave velocity in hypertensive patients. Methods We enrolled 850 hypertensive patients. The grade of hypertension, urinary albumin / creatinine ratio (UACR), carotid artery intima-media thickness thickening of the extent of carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) grouped, collected relevant clinical data and laboratory parameters were analyzed. Results Different levels of hypertension and grade group UACR MAU detection rate, IMT and cfPWV differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Carotid plaque group, IMT thickening group and non-thickening group UACR levels and MAU detection rate differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Different cfPWV groups UACR levels and MAU detection rate differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). cfPWV was positively correlated with IMT in hypertensive patients (r=0.431, P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for age, sex, body mass index, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, Hcy and diabetes, MAU was correlated with IMT (OR=3.121, P<0.05), after adjusting for the grade of hypertension, both were no significant relationship (OR=1.548, P<0.05), after adjusting for cfPWV both were correlated (OR=2.685, P<0.05). After adjusting for age, sex, BMI, TG, LDL-C, Hcy and diabetes later, MAU was correlated with cfPWV (OR =6.245, P<0.05), after adjusting for grade of hypertension, both were still relevant (OR=4.268, P<0.05), after adjusting for IMT, which remained relevant (OR=4.859, P<0.05). Conclusion MAU is correlated with increased arterial stiffness and arterial disease occurrence in patients with hypertension.
