Abstract:Objective To observe the efficacy of high branch chain amino acids in surgical patients with gastrointestinal tract tumor. Methods Sixty patients with gastrointestinal tract tumor who underwent operation were randomly received parental nutrition with either branch chain amino acids enriched(n =30,study group) or routine amino acids (n =30,control group).Nitrogen balance, serum total protein, albumin, prealbumin, transferring, postoperation fatigue score,CD4+,CDs+,CD4+/CD8+,IgG and IgM were monitored. Results Patients achieved positive nitrogen balance earlier in study group than in control group.Cumulative nitrogen balance was higher in study group as well. For peripheral albumin,CD4+,CD8+,CD4+/CD8+ and IgG,the amplitude of changes were (4.0 ±1.7) g/L,(9.5 ±3.4)%,(-5.6 ± 1.2)%,(0.77 ±0.16)and (2.7 ±0.6)g/L in study group, while (2.1 ±2.1) g/L,(6.7 ± 1.4) %,(0.6 ± 0.3) %,(0.21 ± 0.13) and (1.3 ± 0.5) g/L in control group,a significant difference was observed between study group and control group. While for serum total protein, prealbumin, transferring and IgM,there was no difference. The 5th,6th,7th day after operation and the cumulative postoperation fatigue scores were (7.3 ± 1.5),(6.1 ± 1.3),(5.0 ± 1.6) and (53.0 ± 6.7) in study group, which were lower than in control group [(8.0 ± 1.0),(7.6 ± 2.0),(6.2 ± 1.0) and (56.8 ± 5.4) as well].Conclusion High branch chain amino acids is efficient in parental nutrition for surgical patients with gastrointestinal tract tumor.
