Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effectiveness of rehabilitating elbow extension dysfunction due to hemiparalysis. Methods Chinese physical and breathing exercises combined with biofeedback technique were used to induce the potency of the central nevus system.30 patients who had hemiplegia and who had elbow extending problem received a training of 3 months. The functional evaluation was done before and after the treatment course. The data was analyzed. Results After one course of treatment, the differences of all functional evaluation data before and after training, including active elbow extention ROM,MMT of triceps brachii-three,Fugl-Meyer score of the upper limb, the EMG triceps brachii-three and difference between biceps brachial-three and triceps brachii-two were all highly significant [(101 ± 64) °vs (71 ± 68) °,(3.6 ± 1.0) vs (1.8 ± 1.3),(32 ± 20) scores vs (21 ± 19)scores,(97 ±96) μV vs (40 ±56) μV,(74 ±82)μV vs(28 ±46)μV,(3.6 ± 1.9)vs(2.3 ± 1.5),all P < 0.01].Conclusion The neurological training rehabilitation technique is an effective method of improving the elbow extension ability in hemiplegic patient after stroke.
