Risk factors analysis in elderly patients with cerebral infarction

Abstract：Objective To investigate the risk factors of elderly patients with cerebral infarction.Methods All 230 cases of elderly patients with cerebral infarction were analyzed from October 2010 to March 2012; and the causes and risk factors were analyzed using multiple Logistic regression model.Results The ratio of atherosclerosis,hypertension,high blood homocysteine,abnormal lipid metabolism and atrial fibrillation ratio in non-infarction group were lower than those in the cerebral infarction group [53.3 ％ (80/150) vs 92.2％ (212/230),59.3 ％ (89/150) vs 74.3 ％ (171/230),16.7 ％ (25/150) vs 28.3 ％ (65/230),30.0％ (45/150) vs 41.7 ％ (96/230),39.3 ％ (59/150) vs 52.2％ (120/230)],the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).Hypertension,atrial fibrillation,carotid atherosclerosis and diabetes were major risk factors (P ＜ 0.05) ; the differences of other factors were not statistically significant (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion Hypertension,atrial fibrillation,carotid atherosclerosis and diabetes are independent risk factors of cerebral infarction.
