Abstract:Objective To compare the effect of three methods of inhalation of budesonide suspension, inhalation of dexamethasone and injection of dexamethasone in treatment of acute infectious laryngitis in children. Methods Totally 96 children with acute infectious laryngitis were randomly divided into three groups.32 cases in the observation group were treated with inhalation of budesonide suspension,32 cases in control group 1 were treated with inhalation of dexamethasone,32 cases in control group 2 were treated with injection of dexamethasone. The therapetic effect was compared on the 3th day after treatment. Results The total effective rate of the observation group, control group 1 and control group 2 was 96.9% (31/32),71.9% (23/32),93.8% (30/32).The healing rate in the observation group was obviously higher than that in control group !,the difference was significantly detected between the two groups (P < 0.05).The time of hoarseness, barking cough, dyspea and laryngeal stridor symptoms disappeared in the observation group was obviously shorter than in the control group 1 [(2.6 ± 1.3) d vs (3.5±1.4)d,(3.8±1.2)dvs (4.5±2.7)d,(1.92±0.24)dvs (2.81±1.26)d,(1.8±0.6)dvs(2.6± 0.8) d],the significant difference was detected between the two groups (P < 0.05).Conclusions The effect of budesonide inhalation is better than that of dexamethasone inhalation.Budesonide inhalation is worth to be applied in clinic, rapid onset, convenient, safe and reliable.Budesonide inhalation can replace injection of dexamethasone.
