Abstract:Objective To evaluate the impact of triglyceride level on prognosis in patients with acute STsegment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Methods Between June 2006 and June 2011,624 STEMI patients who underwent PCI and received atorvastatin to make low-density lipoprotein chocesterol (LDL-C) < 1.81 mmol/L were evaluated. These patients were divided into triglyceride (TG) target group (TG < 1.70 mmol/L,n =259) and TG non-target group (TG ≥ 1.70 mmol/L,n =365).The relationships between TG and one-year major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) were assessed. Results TG target group got nine MACCE patients (3.5%),which was significantly lower than that of non-target group(13.7%)(P =0.017).Logistic regression analysis showed a significant relationship between TG non-target group and MACCE(OR=0.99; 95% CI:0.84-1.31; P =0.037).Conclusions High TG level (≥1.70 mmol/L) is associated with a higher risk of MACE.This finding supports the concept that achieving low TG levels may be an additional consideration beyond low LDL-C patients following STEMI and PCI.
