Discussion of severe rheumatic valve heart disease treated with valve replacement

Abstract:Objective To discuss the severe rheumatic valve heart disease treated with valve replacement.Methods The clinical data of 80 patients from January 2003 to June 2011 with severe rheumatic valve disease treated with the heart valve replacement operation was retrospectively analyzed.Results The main complications were low cardiac output syndrome,multiple organ failure,respiratory failure and renal failure.There were early death in 4 case (5.0%),2 case of low cardiac output,1 case of cerebral hemorrhage and 3 cases of renal failure.All 76 patients were followed up in 6 months to 7 years with an average of (29 ± 12) months.The patients in heart function grade Ⅰ had 65 cases,10 cases in grade Ⅱ,1 case in grade Ⅲ.Postoperative cardiothoracic ratio decreased with different degree; 70 cases restored to normal work,6 cases restored part of the work.Conclusion Valve replacement is an effective treatment of severe rheumatic valve heart disease.
