Research on the relationship between the elderly interstitial lung diseases and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract：Objective To study the relationship between the elderly interstitial lung diseases (ILD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods Form January 2006 to January 2012,102 cases of ILD were divided into COPD combined with ILD group 48 cases and simple ILD group 54 cases.All cases had no definitive etiology,confirmed by chest ratiology and clinical examination.Results All case were divided into ILD and ILD combined COPD group.The incidence rate of respiratory tract symptom,emphysema,chronic bronchitis,rhonchi,abnormal arterial blood gas analysis,acute respiratory tract infection in ILD combined COPD group were all higher than those in simple ILD group [66.1％ (39/59) vs 33.9％ (20/59),68.4％ (26/38) vs 31.6％ (12/38),64.9％ (24/37) vs 35.1％ (13/37),87.5％ (42/48) vs 12.5％ (6/48),66.7％ (24/36) vs 33.3％ (12/36),69.8％ (30/43) vs 30.2％ (13/43),P ＜0.05 or P ＜0.01].Conclusion The elderly interstitial lung diseases is often accompanied by COPD;the patients in combined with ILD have a worse prognosis.
