Research of memory function of patients with non-dementia vascular cognitive impairment

Abstract:Objective To discuss the memory function characteristics of the patients with vascular cognitive impairment no dementia (VCIND).Methods Twenty-one patients of VCIND group,15 patients of cerebrovascular disease (CVD) group and 22 patients of normal control group were selected in this study.All the selected subjects received the medical examination of memory,attention,language ability and the brain MRI scan,and then they were diagnosed by the improved criteria.Results 85.7 percent patients of VCIND group complained of the decline in the memory function,whereas the difference between CVD group and control group was not significant.The general cognition,memory and language functions of patients in the VCIND group had significantly more decline than those in CVD groups [(11.5 ± 4.4) scores vs (5.7 ± 2.2) scores,(5.3 ± 2.0) scores vs (3.1 ± 1.2) scores,(12.8 ±3.0)scores vs(17.3 ±l.2)scores,all P<0.05].Conclusion Most patients with VCIND have memory impairment,especially have the difficulty in the memory of words and expressions and have the initial symptom of memory impairment.
