Effect of carotid artery stenting with brain protection device on internal carotid artery stenosis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect and safety of internal carotid artery stenting with brain protection device.Methods Fifteen patients of internal carotid artery stenosis ≥ 70％ accepted carotid artery stenting under brain protection device.Ischemic events of homolateral carotid arterial area were observed.Results Fifteen patients accepted carotid artery stenting under brain protection device successfully.Transient ischemic attack in one case during operation,who presented progressive unconscious and contralateral hemiparesis,4 cases after operation presented varying degression of blood pressure and heart rate,no homolateral carotid artery restenosis and ischemic events occurred during 6-12 months' follow-up.Conclusion Carotid artery stenting under brain protection device is a minimally-invasive and safe treatment.
