Abstract:Objective To study the relation between serum macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) and matrix metallo proteinate-9 (MMP-9) level in type 2 diabetic patients(T2DM) with coronary heart disease (CHD).Methods Totally 92 patients with T2DM with CHD who underwent coronary angiography were divided into one-vessel,two-vessel,three-vessel group, meanwhile T2DM without CHD group (40 patients) and the control group (40 patients). The plasma MIF,MMP-9 concentration were measured by ELISA.Results MIF and MMP-9 concentration was significantly higher in T2DM with CHD group [(22 ± 7) μg/L vs (20 ± 6) μg/L] than those in T2DM without CHD group[(18 ±6) vs (16 ± 8) μg/L].MIF and MMP-9 concentrations were increased gradually with the increase of extent of coronary lesion and the Gensini score. Conclusions The high levels of serum MIF,MMP-9 play an important role in the development of CHD in T2DM.
