Effect of combined intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate and triamcinolone acetonide acetate on hip osteoarthritis

Abstract:Objective To study the clinical effect of combined intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate and triamcinolone acetonide acetate for the treatment of hip osteoarthritis.Methods Each case received 5 injections in all and were given only one injection of triamcinolone acetonide acetate intramuscularly at first day of the treatment.Clinical,laboratory and X-ray data of the patients were collected before and after treatment.Results All the patients improved the function of hip joint ( P < 0.01 or P < 0.05 ).Conclusion Combined intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate and triamcinolone acetonide acetate is safe and effective in the treatment of hip osteoarthritis,especially fitting for early and metaphase hip osteoarthritis patients.
