Clinical explore in improving pulmonary function of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract:Objective To study the effects and mechanisms of respiratory exercise on improving pulmonary function of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.Methods Sixty patients with COPD were randomly allocated into control group and intervention group.Patients in two groups received routine medicine therapy and scheduled healthy knowledge education.Patients in the intervention group was asked to do respiratory exercise additionally.6-minute walk distance,serum leukotriene and fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FENO) were measured.Results Compared with control group,the ability of 6-minute walk distance in the intervention group was improved significantly,and serum leukotriene was significantly decreased ( P < 0.01 ),as well as FENO decreased (P <0.01 ).Conclusion Respiratory exercise,particularly general breathing exercise,can improve pulmonary function and quality of life of COPD patients.
