Rational use of medication at walk-in clinic in hospitals

Abstract:Objective To standardize medical action and to ensure the safety of the medication among walk-in clinic visitors.Methods Totally 510 walk-in cases were investigated and the potential drug safety hazard was analyzed and the preventive measures were proposed.Results Totally 510 people were investigated,including 198 long-time patient (38.8%),98 patients purchasing drugs for others (19.5%),85 purchasing drugs with prescription or with case history from other hospitals (15.4%),42 coming on hearsay (8.2%) and 87 were out-oftown employee(17.3%).The potential problems were as follows:the clinical steps were not clear enough; sense of responsibility of some doctors was not strong enough and some drugs were not used rationally.Conclusions Improving the management and optimizing medical treatment process may minimize the occurrence of potential medication hazards.
