Relationship between sleep disorders and lesion distribution in older patients with cerebral infarction

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between sleep disorders and lesion distribution in older patients with cerebral infarction,to provide a reliable basis for the clinical diagnosis and the precaution and treatment through analyzing the mechanism.Methods One hundred and fifty-four patients with cerebral infarction were assessed with pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI). Results ①0f 154 cases of acute senile cerebral infarction,there were 86 cases(55.8%)with sleep disorders. The main types were insomnia included falling asleep,sleep loss, a fragment sleep, superficial sleep, and excess sleep, nightmare, and taking hypnotic medication to promote sleep and so on.②37 cases of subcortex infarction(64.9%,37/57),19 cases of cortex and subcortex spontaneous infarction(57.6%,19/33),8 cases of brain stem infarction(57.1%,8/14)and 3 cases of cerebellar infarction(42.9%,3/7)had sleep disorder.The rate of sleep disorders in subcortex infarction was the highest.Conclusion Sleep disorders and lesion distribution in older patients with cerebral infarction was the highest and it is correlated with lesion distribution.
