Abstract:Objective To discuss the feasibility, safety, effectiveness and technique of balloon-assisted endovascular in the treatment of wide-necked aneurysms with microcoils. Methods The clinical data of 23 patients with wide-necked aneurysms treated by balloon-assisted endovascular embolization with microcoils were analyzed retrospectively. There were 8 patients with posterior communicating artery aneurysms,7 patients with anterior communicating artery aneurysms,6 patients with middle cerebral artery bifurcation aneurysms and 2 patients with basilar artery aneurysms. All the aneurysms were embolized with microcoils assisted by balloons. The effect of embolization and the prognosis of patients was observed. Results Twenty-three aneurysms received totally occlusion. The postoperative cerebral transient ischemia occurred in 2 patients;rebleeding did not occur in all the patients. Conclusion Balloon-assisted endovascular embolization with microcoils is a safe and effective method to treat wide-necked aneurysms with enhancing dense-packing rate and reducing the postoperative complications.
