Cutaneous malignant melanoma of foot: a case report

Abstract:Objective To understand clinical manifestations of cutaneous malignant melanonm and to enhance awareness of the disease.Methods A cutaneous malignant melanoma case masquerading as a diabetic foot ulcer was diagnosed and treated correctly.Results A 66 year-old woman suffered from recurrent foot ulcer.The toe was amputated to remove the focus.Pathological and immunohistochemical examinations showed the ulcer was cutaneous malignant melanoma.The result of the immunohistochemical examination was HMB-45(+ +),Ki-67(70%),S-100(+),EMA(-),CK8(-),CK18(-),Vim(+ + +),CD31(-),CD34(-),LCA(-),MalenA(+ +),Bcl-2(+ +).The patient's body condition was evaluated after operation to prevent recurrence of foot ulcer.Conclusions Foot melanoma is rare and highly malignant.Operation is the best option for treatment.We should enhance awareness of the disease and pay attention to distinguishing it from diabetic foot ulcer.
