Clinical analysis of 286 cases of acute myocardial infarction patients over 75 years old

Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of patients aged over 75 years old with acute myocardial infarction(AMI).Methods A total of 286 AMI patients more than 75 years old (group A)were admitted into hospital from August 2008 to May 2011.260 AMI patients under 75 years were selected as a control group (group B).The clinical characteristics of two groups were analyzed and compared.Results,There were 182 patients with untypical symptoms represented upper abdominal pain and sore throat(63.6% ) in group A,which was higher than that in group B [ 52 cases ( 20.0% ) ].The in-hospital death in older patients was higher than that in younger patients[ 16.3% (45/286) vs3.3% (8/260),P < 0.01 ].Conclusion The symptom is untypical in AMI patients more than 75 years old and doctor should emphasize other important symptom without upper abdominal pain.
