Abstract:Objective To asscess the changes of peripheral arteries and interventional treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Methods Thirty-six diabetic patients with foot ulcers were examined by lower extremity digital subtraction angiography ( DSA ) with simultaneous ultrasonic Doppler examination for correlative study and interventional treatment was carried out in 19 segmental stenotic cases.20 cases had conservative treatment. Results All patients survived.Among them,13 patients were treated by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty( PTA ) and 6 patients by intravascular stenting.Conservative treatment group had 2 cases of amputation. Conclusions PTA and stent placement is not only minimally invasive, highly successful but also can significantly improve lower extremity arterial blood perfusion. The short-term treatment is satisfactory and can reduce patient morbidity.
