Analysis of the usage of anti-hypertension drugs

Abstract:Objective To analyze the usage of anti-hypertension drugs at Zhongshan hospital affiliated to Dalian university during 2007-2009, and to provide medical reference for the rational use of anti-hypertension drugs. Methods The sales data of anti-hypertension drugs was collected by the hospital medical storehouse computer management system from January 2007 to December 2009. Meanwhile the hospital drugs defined daily dosages (DDDs) sorting principle was used for the analysis in this study. Results The sales proportion of the anti-hypertension drugs among all drugs has been increasing over the three-year period. The average annual proportion was 0. 13%. The DDDs of calcium antagonists was in the first place, with an average annual growth rate of 175. 27%. β-receptor blockers was in the second place, with an average annual growth rate of 141.86%. Angiotensin Ⅱ receptor blocker (ARB) , angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEI) , and diuretics were in the third, fourth and fifth place respectively. The highest frequency of drug usage was the calcium channel blockers. Conclusion The usage of antihypertension drugs in the Zhongshan hospital affiliated to Dalian university is moving towards the reasonable direction.
