High segmental epidural anesthesia plus brachial plexus block by intermuscular approach during scapula fracture surgery

Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of high segmental epidural (EA) anesthesia plus brachial plexus block by intermuscular apporach during scapula fracture surgery.Methods Fifty-two patients scheduled with scapula fracture were selected.T2-3 or T3-4 intervertebral space received EA.Subsequently.brachial plexus block by intermuscular approach of the injured side was applied.Little amount of opioid analgesics was used according to the anesthesia effect.Results Operations were all successful.The perfect rate of anesthesia was 98.1%.The anesthe-sia effect was bad in one case.Conclusions High segmental epidural anesthesia plus braehial plexus block by intermuscular apporach is a simple,safe and economical method for scapula fracture surgery.
