Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical significance of cytokeratin 19 fragments (CYFRA21-1)in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Chaoshan area. Methods The electrochemiluminescence (ECLIA) was used to detect the serum concentrations of CYFRA21-1 and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)in the healthy controls and the patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) before surgery and 10 days after analyzed.Resuits In Chaoshan area.the serum levels of CYFRA21-1 and CEA in patients with ESCC were obviously higher before surgery than that 10 days after sugery(P<0.05).The positive rate of CYFRA21-1 before surgery(58.9%,53/90)was higher than that of CEA(25.6%,23/90),with statistical significance(χ2=18.00,P<0.05).The positive rate of CYFRA21-1(72.5%,29/40)in the recurrence of esophageal tumors was higher than that of CEA(32.5%,13/40),with statistical significance(χ2=12.50,P<0.05).Conclusion Serum CYFRA21-1 is the secondary indicator of the diagnosis and recurrence of ESCC.
